Using the “Carpenter’s Rule” in Your Event Planning Process (Pt2)

Mic-checking before an event is paramount. Not only checking the mics, but speakers, props, wiring, and sound levels will help you in recognizing any quirky sound or setups. Also, have your speaker and/or entertainer do a run-through with the mics to ensure their comfort level. Check the mic positioning and height and you’ll be ready for “primetime”!
You may think throwing a bunch of chairs in venue is all it takes to fill a seating chart, but you want to consider what the person in that chair will experience during the event. Will they have easy access to their seat? WIll they be too close to their neighbor? What if they have a disability? Consider these factors to make sure your guests have the best experience at your event.
Food & Beverage
More times than not, people come to events to fill their bellies. The menu and dining experience are things that guests will remember long after the event has been executed. Double-check your menu to make sure you have food for guests of varying dietary palettes. There are vegans, gluten-free, and food allergy diners and the last thing you need during the execution of an event is a hungry guest. Also, double-check that you have enough food for guests and crashers.
This is at the top of the list when it comes to double checking before executing an event. Run-through all of the safety guidelines, rules, and regulations with your event staff. Ensure that they are aware of what to do in case of an emergency and are aware of emergency exit procedures. It is also a good idea to have a first aid kit on hand for accidents. Include safety procedures for guests on the event website or on printed event materials.

Just remember the Carpenter’s Rule when executing your events:
“Measure Twice and Cut Once”
